about the artist
hey there, i’m alex! the artist and maker behind “jack of trades studio”✨
…
as far back as my memory goes, i’ve had a love for drawing, crafting, and making art. i’ve also always had a love of learning. and not much gets me more excited than when my love of making art is combined with learning something new! the best days in school were the ones when we would get to break out the craft supplies and spend the whole class period learning a new art technique and then diving in to make something cool that we could take home, or something that might get displayed in the hallways to celebrate some seasonal occasion.
in 2018, i graduated with a BFA in fibers from the university of oregon. i was initially going for a BA in digital arts (which i completed all the credits for!) but i changed direction after i took some fibers classes, discovered that a BFA in fibers was a thing that existed, and decided to pursue that instead. during my time in school i took a wide variety of art classes because i was just curious about it all! ceramics, oil painting, printmaking, photography, letterpress, weaving, intro to jewelry/metalsmithing, a little woodworking, and probably more i’m forgetting! on top of that, there are many, many more processes i’d love to pursue, but for one reason or another, it just hasn’t been quite the right time yet (such as glassblowing, stained glass, lapidary, and more…)
there is just so much i could say about art and the types of art that inspire me, but for now i wanted to try to keep this section relatively short, so i might make additional pages or blogposts? in the future diving into more detail and topics related to art…i might even edit this page, add more info, idk!
regardless, i wanted to get something up here and share a bit about myself, i’m just excited to finally make this website and share my art and the things i create :) this whole thing is certainly a work in progress! however, i’m happy i’m finally starting this after years of talking about it, but never actually doing it!
(thanks undiagnosed adhd/autism!… but that’s another story i won’t get into right now lol)
anyway.. thanks for reading if you got this far! lots of cool things in the works, i hope you stick around :)
✨stay curious✨
